The Plumb Line

How It Works

See clearly. Move forward together.

An honest look at your current reality.

The Plumb Line is an interior health assessment for ministry leaders. A structured way to pause and pay attention to what's happening across eight areas of life and leadership.

Rate your current reality, not your aspiration.

The goal isn't a high score. The goal is to see clearly.

Eight domains. One honest snapshot.

The assessment examines eight areas of life and leadership. Not to evaluate ministry performance, but to surface what's happening in the person doing the ministry.

01

Unprocessed Grief

Accumulated loss

What you're carrying from significant loss and past ministry wounds, and whether those experiences are still shaping how you relate, decide, and lead.

02

Identity & Worth

Beyond performance

How secure your sense of who you are remains apart from role, reputation, results, and the approval of others, and how honestly you're living from that identity.

03

Relational Health

With co-laborers

The honesty, mutual care, and safety present in your closest ministry relationships.

04

Vocational Clarity

Calling integrity

Whether your daily work still feels connected to the calling that brought you into ministry, and whether your role feels sustainable and aligned with who you are.

05

Emotional Capacity

Resilience & reserves

Your emotional reserves, awareness of what you're feeling, ability to recover, and capacity to care for others without becoming depleted or taking on what isn't yours.

06

Spiritual Vitality

Interior life

The quality of your personal life with God. Not your ministry output, but your own encounter with him.

07

Life Outside Ministry

Home & personal relationships

Your presence with the people closest to you, the pressures affecting those relationships, and your awareness of how ministry leadership affects them.

08

Embodied Capacity

How strain lives in the body

How well you're noticing and responding to stress, fatigue, and strain in your body before they become depletion.

The assessment experience.

40 questions. About 15 minutes.

Questions are presented one at a time, without domain labels or category groupings. You simply respond to each question honestly, rating your current reality on a scale of one to five.

When you finish, you receive a personal snapshot: your domain scores, areas that may need attention, relative strengths, and guided reflection prompts to sit with before moving into conversation.

This is not a performance review. It is not a diagnosis. It is a point of reference. A way to see where you are so you can decide where you want to go.

Your assessment begins privately.

Nothing is shared automatically. You receive your results first, then can bring them into conversation with someone who walks alongside you.

The Plumb Line gives you two ways to bring others into what you're seeing:

Coach View

Share your full snapshot with a coach, spiritual director, counselor, or trusted practitioner walking alongside you.

Board View

Share your full snapshot with your organization's board or leadership team.

You can share through Coach View, Board View, both, or neither. You can also share a PDF snapshot with someone outside the platform. When you share within an organization or network, authorized leaders may be able to view your results according to their role and the organization's access settings.

Sharing begins with an intentional choice and is designed to support honest, helpful conversation.

A starting point you can return to.

Your results are a starting point for reflection and conversation with someone who walks alongside you. The reflection prompts help you move from seeing to naming, and from naming to conversation.

The Plumb Line is designed to be taken more than once. As seasons change, a repeat assessment helps you see what has shifted, notice patterns over time, and keep the conversation grounded in current reality.

An annual rhythm can provide enough time for meaningful change while keeping the conversation connected to current reality.
